Building Relationships Online – Part 4

Dear Readers,

This week we’re talking about building relationships online and how this is the key to marketing your MLM business online. If you missed the first 4 installments you can read them here ( intro, part 1, part 2 part 3).

I’ve talked a little bit about engaging your audience and making yourself more open.  I talked about putting your contact information on your web site… but let’s go even further. If you have an actual web site (like a blog or your own personal marketing site) then there are some tools to engage your audience further.

A lot of people are using the twitter, facebook, myspace, youtube, etc icons like the ones on the right hand side of my site… And that is certainly a good start. I get new people adding me to their friends every day.  I probably could be even better at this myself as I don’t have as many followers as some of the big guys…

But I do something different than most of the big guys.  I use instant messaging.  One of the tools I use is called Meebo.  There are two aspects to Meebo.  Make sure you pay attention icon smile Building Relationships Online Part 4

The first aspect is that Meebo is a web site that allows you to put all your instant messengers in one place.  Certainly there are software programs to do this but Meebo is unique because they offer a web page you can access from anywhere that has all your chat windows, all your chat contacts, in one place.  I started using it when I worked a job because I couldn’t install all my instant messenger/chat software at work… and well I fell in love with it.

BUT WAIT… Don’t stop there icon smile Building Relationships Online Part 4

Meebo also has the ability to add chat rooms into your web site. The chatroom shows when you’re logged into Meebo and people visiting your web site can click and instantly open chat conversations with you.  You can see this in action on my personal site for the custom greeting card guy. You’ll notice I’ve got a little chat box in the side navigation.

Here is how this works.  Meebo gives you some code that you put into your web site. You just cut and paste and it adds your personal chat room and automatically tells your audience when you’re online.

I login to Meebo in the morning. It opens all my chat windows to Yahoo, GoogleTalk, MSN Messenger, AOL, and you can even connect it to Facebook.  Meebo also connects to my chat room on my custom card guy site and puts an icon on my web site to show people I’m online.  They can then type right into my web site and start a chat conversation with me.

This little chat room has been a big boon for my business.  Almost every day someone initiates a conversation with me through this chat room.  Sometimes I may have several conversations during the day.  It might be with prospects or it might be with existing team members.  The point is it gives people a simple channel to communicate with me.  Prospects who have joined my business through that web site now go back there to chat with me again even though they are now in the business.  They just find it to be a real easy way to communicate.

This is my Christmas gift to you. I hope you have read this. I hope you see how cool adding a little tiny bit of code to your web site which places this silly little chat room on your site.  It is probably worth 6 leads a week to me.  Can you imagine if I didn’t use it? I might be missing out on 300 leads…

This one thing if you do it might be worth all the time  you’ve spent reading this blog icon wink Building Relationships Online Part 4

Having said that… if it doesn’t make sense or if you have questions about how it works let me know!

I didn’t know about that Meebo thing. As long as you don’t leave or close the chat room, will it stay there with the same code indefinitely? This is certainly a good idea to know better the new and old visitors to your website. Can double up for support too! :)

Hi Peder,

The chatroom code stays on your web site until you remove the code. If you aren’t logged into Meebo the chatroom simply shows an icon that you aren’t online and doesn’t let them chat. If you are online the icon shows you are available to chat.
