Twitter Tips from YOU

Dear Readers,

Thank you all for sharing your Twitter tips with me.  Some of you emailed. Some called on the phone (877-236-3488). Some commented on my blog. Some commented on Twitter. Some commented on Facebook.

Here are a few pieces of advice I gleaned from the Twitter discussion.

  • Be interesting. Mix a combination of business and personal. Don’t be all business all the time.  Your real fans want to know more about you not just your business. If you’re all business then your posts begin to come across as spam.
  • Retweet other people.  Retweet interesting posts. Some of your fans might not have seen the original and it also gives you exposure by retweeting other people Tweeple’s posts.
  • Post a few times per day if you can, don’t let it go too long without posting. You can spend a little bit of time reading some other tweets to get some ideas for things to retweet or post.
  • Post interesting things from your Facebook to Twitter and vice versa.  After all not all of your Facebook friends are Twitter Followers.
  • Many people used those automatic Twitter follower services to start building their following but after awhile quit using them due to spam complaints.
  • A lot of people like me find Twitter noisy.   I think the key is some of the software tools and unfollowing people to help with the noise.

What do you feel about Twitter?

Do you have any tips or suggestions to add?

Tomorrow I’ll try and post a few more links and or tips.

You know, I’m kinda over the Twitter craze. I’ve never been one to fawn over celebrities or athletes, especially gleaning over their every thought. You point out that Twitter is noisy and I couldn’t agree more.

I have followed some of my favorite bloggers but I get all their latest posts with my Reader.

Twitter to me is good for breaking news and trending topics and Twidroyd is good for local tweets and reading articles but overall, I’m kinda done with it and have started moving all of my marketing away from it.

I run home improvement, web development business, and network marketing businesses. Seriously, who is really interested in getting multiple Tweets per day for information on painters, coders, and “make money” salesmen?

If I were Biz Stone, I would’ve taken the $10 billion offers from Facebook and Google. Twitter Search is great, don’t get me wrong and although Google Buzz has a much smaller market share, overall it’s a better product & service.
