Twitter Resources & Tips
Dear Readers,
Thank you for all the awesome Twitter tips and suggestions. I appreciate you!
Here are some Twitter Resources/Tools I’ve found helpful.
TweetDeck – Twitter Application that runs on your computer. Allows you to sort your tweets, search tweet and also allows you to do things like post to Facebook and Twitter at the same time. (Now for desktop, android, ipad, iphone, ipod.) Pretty popular free app.
HootSuite – A web based application that allows you to connect with various social media sites. (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, FourSquare, WordPress.com, Ping.fm, Mixi, Ning). There is a free version that I think allows you to setup to 5 connections to your social networking sites. I’m currently trying the $5.99 a month pro version. You can see all my tabs here:
HootSuite lets me setup tabs for some of my Twitter lists, keyword searches, Facebook fanpages I manage, etc.
ManageFlitter – Awesome tool for mass unfollow Twitter people. I used this tool to unfollow from 1800+ people so far. You can do things like unfollow people who don’t follow you back. You can unfollow people who don’t have a real profile photo. You can unfollow people that other people unfollow. You can even make sure you keep the certified accounts or popular accounts instead of unfollowing them.
SocialOomph – this tool lets you do things like set up auto-follow to automatically follow people who follow you, or automatically send them a DM message back to say hello to them. Can also set it to do timed tweets, or do keyword searches and email you updates.
Here is an awesome Twitter Guide from Mashable. Lots of great tips on this one.
Also you can find some Twitter tips on Twitter’s Official Blog.
Hope this helps guide you on Twitter!
PS. Happy New Year! I hope your 2011 is your best year yet!

Hey Ben, I agree that if you’re not using a Twitter client to sort, filter, and manage it can all feel like total chaos.
I use (and love) HootSuite for all my Twitter profiles and also my Facebook pages. Putting the whole thing on autopilot — especially when your account is still new — is awesome. I spend about 2 hours/month setting up autoposts and it relieves me of the worry that my account will look “dead” if I don’t show up for a day.
Another Twitter client that I use and recommend on my Android phone is http://twidroyd.com/ Great for finding trends, local tweets, and live feeds.
Hey Jason,
Does HootSuite not have an Android app? I have the app for my iPhone. So far I’m pretty happy with it. So happy in fact I’m thinking of making some fun and entertaining new Twitter identities.
Hey Ben thanks for sharing that tool Manageflitter looks like could be a great little twitter tool get rid of these twitter scams and spams.
The open twitter search jetwick lets you filter spam and duplicates (+ a lot more). Try it at http://jetwick.com
