What makes for a good Facebook post?
Dear Readers,
What makes a good Facebook post? What Facebook posts get the most views, likes, and comments?
I found an article this week that you might find interesting. It talks about a study done recently which looks at posts, type of posts, time of day, total likes, total replies, etc. Some data you might find helpful. You can read the article here.
For example it might be obvious to most of you that images and video trump text status updates. People are more likely to like/reply/share images and video status updates. However did you know that images are more popular than video?
It’s true that a really good video can go viral and lead to 10 million+ people seeing your video. But on average photos are more popular than video. That is probably the opposite of what you expect.
Did you know that Friday is the best day to post, while Sunday is the worst?
Or did you know that posting in the morning is going to get more likes, replies, and shares than an evening post?
Knowing this information can help you create more engaging Facebook posts. For example you might want to post more image uploads. Or perhaps you want to make sure you post a few messages first thing in the morning.
It is also interesting to look at the traffic on Saturday/Sunday… I hate to break it to you employers out there but the reason why there is less Facebook traffic on the weekends? People are Facebooking from work! Since they don’t work on weekends and have family activities and stuff they are less likely to Facebook on weekends. Actually every web site I’ve ever run shows a decline on the weekends. INTERESTING.
I’d hate to be an employer paying my people an hourly wage to be on Facebook chatting with their friends!
Here is the blog post from Virtue with covers the basic data. If you want the full information you can sign up with Virtue to download their whitepaper for free. The report is 18 pages and they analyze the data in greater detail.
I don’t know about you, but I am paying attention
I’m going to be changing how I post on Facebook.
