How to Make Pretty QR Codes
Over the past couple of weeks I’ve been sharing with you some ideas about QR Codes.
The typical QR Code is a boring black and white image. However it is possible to make pretty QR Codes.
Yet you can see this QR Code is colorful and even has Tallulah the hairless cat saying Hi.
Mashable has a post on how to make pretty QR Codes which explains the basics.
Step 1. Use colors. The QR Code generator I use allows you to specify alternate colors other than black and white.
Step 2. If you have a graphics program you can apply a filter to your code. For example I added an emboss filter to my QR Code and also a background texture.
Step 3. Use 30% error correction. This puts in extra blocks into the QR Code.
Step 4. Experiment with putting your graphics, logo, or branding, into the QR Code. Since there are 30% extra blocks you should be able to cover a small part of the QR Code and have it still function.
Step 5. Test with your QR Code reader to make sure the code still works.
Now you’ve seperated yourself from the rest of the marketers out there. MOST people still aren’t using QR Codes and only a small percentage of those people are making pretty qr codes.
What do you think of my QR Code?
