Product Launch Problems and Lessons Learned

Wow, I haven’t been writing consistently. Sorry about that. I’ve been so busy launching my new web site and working on the next couple of launches… Plus I had to put some time and energy into some old sites to keep my members happy.

I wanted to take a few minutes today to tell you about my last product launch (the instant buzz ebook). I ran into some problems but I think I learned some valuable lessons that will help you next time you go to launch a web site, ebook, etc…

The biggest problem I encountered was I tried to launch the site too quickly. I was anxious to generate some revenue from this product that had been sitting on my shelf unfinished. It was a project I should have launched in March or April but I got to the hard part and sort of forgot about it. I chased another project that was easier to work on or “more fun”. So after going to the Internet Marketing Main Event (TIMME) and getting excited and motivated I decided to finish up this old project before I did any work on anything new.

So I set a launch date of only two weeks after I got back from the seminar. Actually 10 days after I got back from the seminar! I was going to try and do the entire membership area, complete the site, make the rebrandable ebook, and get a bunch of bonuses together all in 10 days. BUT I still work a JOB! So that meant I’d only be able to work part time on the site.

I got several people I met at TIMME interested in helping me launch the thing…. BUT then 1 day before the launch I had to cancel the launch! I had to delay it by one week because I didn’t have the site completed!

So the biggest problem was one week later when I was ready to launch the site, those partners weren’t as excited about the project. To this date one of my friends who told me he was going to help me still hasn’t even sent out a single email about my site. icon sad Product Launch Problems and Lessons Learned Its my fault really because I tried to do things too quickly.

So, when you go to launch your next web site, make sure you give yourself plenty of time. Make sure your site is done, your sales pages are working, your membership area is working, and you’ve tested everything. It doesn’t have to be 100% perfect but make sure you’ve got it ready BEFORE you set your launch date. That way you don’t miss your launch!

I not only missed my launch, but I ended up launching the same day as a $800 product. Most people wanted to market the $800 product not my little $9.97 and $67 products! I can’t blame them!

Oh well…

When I get time I’ll tell you some more stories about the lessons I learned…
