Daylight Savings Time Change for your Windows CE Smart Phone

Did you know that Daylight Savings time in the US was this weekend?

Congress decided we should move Daylight Savings time up 3 weeks. This had effects I didn’t even realize. This morning my Windows CE smart phone was showing the wrong time. Thankfully a friend sent me a link to this Microsoft Knowledgebase article.

If you have a Windows CE smart phone you’ll need to:

1. Update to Active Sync version 4.5
2. Connect your phone to your PC.
3. Download and run the Daylight Savings Time updater tool for Active Sync.
4. During the update to Daylight Savings time it will tell you to check your phone and follow the instructions on the phone. I basically had to select where to save the update to, my phone or my smart card. I chose to save it to my phone and the update ran, then rebooted my phone.
5. After the reboot I resync’ed and my time was automatically updated.
