So I was wrong ;)
So Hurricane Rita didn’t wreak havoc on the internet. I’m glad! I’m happy to be wrong!
I hope however this pointed out a couple of ways you guys can protect your web sites! You should be backing them up often. Don’t be like I was. I was complacent. I hadn’t had a problem in 5 years of hosting web sites. So I wasn’t worried about backups. Then my server’s harddrive crashed! It took about 12 hours to get the server back up and running, but then it wasn’t running right. In the process of trying to fix it we lost the entire server. We lost a bunch of data. The only data I managed to save was my most important web site. However many important sites including some irreplaceable databases were lost!
Thats why I spend so much money on web hosting now. I have some of the best companies in the business protecting my sites for me. That way I always have backups, and I have someone to help me out if I ever run into problems!
