Google Adsense launches referral program
Did you hear that Google Adsense just launched a referral program?
Google just launched the program which includes advertising buttons you can place on your web site. (see the button in my right hand navigation?)
When you recommend someone to join Google’s adsense and that person reaches their first $100 in commissions, Google will pay you $100 for referring them.
This is a great step in the right direction by Google.
A really interesting part of the referral program is that Google is also allowing web site owners to recommend that people download the Firefox web browser with the Google toolbar built in. If web site owners put a Firefox button on their web site they’ll get paid $1.00 for every download.
I think this is interesting because Google is in essence backing Firefox. Their trying to help spread the word of Firefox and take control away from Microsoft who owns such a huge share of the web browser market.
At $1.00 per download, I’m not personally planning on recommending it but I bet some people who have web sites targeted to new internet users or targeted towards internet security will make a killing simply by recommending Firefox downloads.
What do you think about these changes at Google? Leave us a comment and let us know!
