You can make money lots of ways in MLM…

But is it worth it?

A guy I knew from another company (5 years ago) contacted me to share some new MLM deal.

I honestly didn’t even look at it.  His email was so full of false promises and hype it was sickening.  I get approached by stuff like that all the time.

It seems like it is getting even worse these days.  All these “profit sharing” scams have replaced the “cash gifting” programs. When people start to catch on to one scam they are replaced with something else.  I’ve noticed a core group of people that go from scam to scam to scam.  Literally every week they have a new scam to promote.  Many of these scams are probably run by the same people.  They farm out a new name/graphics/web site to some 3rd world graphic designer and setup a new scam for when the old one breaks down.

My feeling on this is pretty simple.

You can make money lots of ways.  You can for example get a gun and go rob liquor stores.  However the consequences of doing this are that:

  1. You could be killed in the process
  2. You could be arrested and go to jail
  3. You could get beat up
  4. You could loose a lot of friends when they discover you’re a thief

I choose not to rob liquor stores.  I choose not to grow pot.  I choose not to run whores. I choose not to do lots of things because I do not like the consequences.

If I just wanted to focus on short term money, robbing a bank might make me some nice money. However it is short term. I’m going to run a risk of getting caught and when the money runs out I’ll need to rob another bank.

What does robbing a bank or liquor store have to do with MLM?  Well a lot of the junk programs out there are similar. They’re short term money.  There are people who have flat out told me they don’t care if the company goes out of business because they have gotten paid already. They don’t care if the new guy gets burned. That to me is like robbing someone.

I’ve been with a legitimate MLM company for 6.5 years now.  I’m getting paid over and over and over again.  I’ve been paid very well for being loyal. I don’t have to go out and look for something new because I’ve found something that is going to pay me repeatedly.

There are consequences to promoting crap!

When you promote every little scam or opportunity that comes up you hurt your reputation.  People will stop trusting you.  Your friends and family won’t want to hear from you any more.  People who were in your down line once or maybe even twice will stop following you. They’ll begin to see through your false promises and won’t trust you any more.

Find a good company and stick with it.  Stop jumping from company to company. Stop promoting every little “opportunity” that comes up. Don’t focus on the quick buck but focus on long term income. Pick very carefully the opportunities you choose to join and promote.  If you do so you’ll have a sterling silver reputation and people will gladly follow you.  Choose a bunch of crap to promote and quickly your loyal friends won’t be so loyal any more.
