What is your network marketing niche?
Dear readers,
In my book Nichework Marketing one of the questions I ask is “What is your network marketing niche?”
You’re probably asking yourself right now, why do I need a niche?
If you’re in a company with 100,000 or 1,000,000 distributors you need to make yourself stand out from the rest. How do you do that? You find yourself a niche to focus on. By focusing on a niche you make yourself unique. You make yourself stand out from the crowd.
A niche is a very focused segment of a larger market. Let’s say for example that you are involved in health and nutrition. You are a young adult recently out of college. Perhaps your niche would be focusing on college age students, and athletes. Talk about the unique nutrition requirements. Talk about having more energy for the long nights and weekends. Talk about how it can improve your studying while allowing you to have time to enjoy your college years…
Perhaps you are a young mother. Your niche could be on mothers. It could be focusing on prenatal nutrition. Or it could be focusing on the unique nutrition and health requirements of a new mom. Long nights without a lot of sleep. Staying healthy. Staying mentally strong and avoiding postpartum depression.
Perhaps you are an older man. You could focus on the specific requirements for cardiac health. Focus on the specific nutrition for lowering cholesterol. Focus on the differences between good cholesterol and bad cholesterol.
Most people would join a health and nutrition company and want to target everyone and everything. They wouldn’t want to eliminate anyone. They think that they’d cost themselves money by targeting a niche.
In reality when you focus on a niche you will make a lot more money. You’ll stand out. You won’t be competing against 100,000 other distributors, you’ll be competing against only a few distributors. People will be attracted to you because they will see you as an expert instead of a generalist. You’ll build testimonials and referral partners within your niche and things will grow much faster for you.
When you focus on a network marketing niche you stand to make a lot more money. This is especially true when it comes to marketing on the internet. I’ll talk more about that next week.

Specializing saves months if not years of aimless marketing.
When new to network marketing I didn’t specialize. Until I realized that my pitch was falling on deaf ears.
Be creative. Focus on a small market. Become an authority in the niche(write ebooks, run a blog, etc) and you won’t have to worry about the competition.

Selecting a niche in the MLM industry is important because you really need to narrow your field of expertise down, especially at the start of your business venture, otherwise you are going to go too broad, and this will make things very difficult when trying to dominate your targeted spot at the engines.

You are absolutely right about finding a niche. A niche market can be easily targeted and reached. Of course, you need to have a unique product or service that will fulfill the unmet needs of this specific group of people.
