Hi All! Hi Ben!
Thanks for the lovely introduction. I am glad to be here, and the invitation could not have happened at a more interesting time. More about this later……..
I am a single mom, and writing this on Mother’s Day just seemed like a natural thing for me to do. Although I do not think I am one dimensional, my role as a mother of one (Parker, age 19 as of this week), has definitely been the focus and the motivating force in a lot of my decisions over the last 20 years. As I look back, I cannot be sure if I would have started networking several years ago, had it not been for Parker.
A woman who was dating a man I had once loved sent me some natural health products – which company it was is really immaterial. I did not know the woman, nor did I want to know her, so I did not take them. When she called, and persisted, I agreed to try them during what I was referring to as “hell week” in my mind. I was sure nothing would make the week better, and then I could send them back to her, and not have to hear from her again. To my utter amazement, the week flew by like a breeze. The capper was when Parker, then 7 , looked at me and said “Mommy, you are laughing LIKE YOU USED TO”!!!
Needless to say, I was hooked on the product, in a good way, and built my first networking group in that company. Other people noticed the changes in me, and wanted to try the products as well, and soon I had a nice part time income, enough so that I could cut back my hours, work only half time, and be the equivalent of a full time mom, going on field trips, and always being there after school.
Time has passed since then, with lots of learning adventures along the way. I currently have a nutritional products group, and also a company that helps people build stronger relationships, whether personal or business. I do some direct sales online as well, and work for a large company in the transportation industry. I make more from home than I do from my job, and I would probably be able to quit my job this fall, but I do not know that I will. I enjoy my work, and my businesses, which are growing rapidly, do not take all of my time.
The homeschooling with my son was made possible and was inextricably intertwined with my networking over the years. I will explore this in later posts – there is a lot to say, and I am very grateful to have had the time with him. He recently began work for an international software firm as a support engineer, so I feel that his education is serving him well so far. He will be starting college full time in the next few months as well, majoring in computer science and Asian studies.
My current goals in my home business are to facilitate communications between a number of people, a high number actually, and to help anyone who sincerely wants to, to transform their lives the way that my life has been transformed. Some will be looking for more prosperity, some for time, some for a different quality of life – maybe the freedom to set their own schedule, or to choose with whom they will work. Networking has improved my life in all of these ways, and more.
Because of my networking, we live in a beautiful brand new two story house, that has a wetland literally in my back yard. I work with a wonderful group of people, doing things that I enjoy. I have started a company called A Different Destiny, and as time moves forward, will be using it as an umbrella to assist others in change, which is almost always from the inside out.
The landscapers are here, putting in my sprinklers and sod. I need to go out, and enjoy that for a bit. I will post again, tomorrow, and maybe say more about homeschooling.
Breathe in, breathe out, and take a step!
