Network Marketing & MLM Training by Home Business Blogs

90 days of Massive Action

I’m the leader you want to follow.

I have put a plan of action into place NOW for massive action in my business for the next 90 days. I am attracting successful dynamic individuals to my team.

I am going to putting people into a training room in Providence Rhode Island in September for one of my companies seminars. I’m not sure how to describe the seminar. It is unlike anything I have ever been to before. It is a super motivational session which is specific to our business and yet also covers some philosophies that can grow ANY business.

I asked my dad to attend and told him I would pay for the ticket. The seminar was all the way in Minneapolis, MN. (I live in Boston and my dad in Connecticut.) All he had to do is pay for the flight. I paid for the hotel room and the seminar ticket. He didn’t really know what to expect but it was his son so he did it.

Although he is technically involved in my business he doesn’t really do much with it.

He is however a real estate agent.

He immediately saw things through the seminar that he could apply to both his businesses. Within one week of attending the seminar my father got a new listing for a $475,000 house. I think this is one of his biggest listings ever.

That is the seminar I am bringing 200 people to.

It is going to change their lives. It is going to build unstoppable momentum.

I started TODAY.

I’ll keep you posted of my results!

Special Event - do you wait for the event?

Lets take a real example from my home business.

This happens to most of us involved in network marketing and MLM. At some point you’ll find that you are going to be having a special event. Maybe that event is a special training seminar or a motivational speaker. Maybe that event is a special promotion in your business where the entry price will be lowered or where you’ll make double your bonus.

You know what I mean right? You’ve seen these special events, right? You’ve seen events where the #1 income earner from your home business opportunity is coming to town.

In my case it is an Infomercial. Our team has partnered with an infomercial company to provide our own 30 minute business opportunity/overview infomercial. We’ve got an opportunity to purchase HOT leads that come from people watching the opportunity and calling a toll-free number for more information. Operators will screen the leads and deliver them to our team in real time.

NOW, most people take the WRONG approach.

Most people WAIT. They invest their $50 or $200 or whatever in the leads. Then the sit back and wait. They wait for the leads to start coming to them. They think “These leads are going to be great. They are going to explode my business.”

That is exactly the wrong attitude!

When I hear about a special event like this, I get excited too. Instead of waiting I decide to take MASSIVE ACTION right now!

You’re right, the leads are going to be awesome and I am going to find a lot of new business partners as a result of the leads.

HOWEVER, wouldn’t it be more powerful if I go out and find a few new partners TODAY who want to join the leads program too!?!

Wouldn’t it be more powerful if I had 10 people doing the leads with me? Heck, even if I failed and don’t get 10 people, what if I got 5 people to help me do leads? Or 2 people to help me do leads?

THAT is how you fail your way to success! You get started now. You don’t wait. You go out and build your home business NOW. Even if your advertisements isn’t as successful as you wanted, this is the way to succeed. You just keeping doing the activities you need to do to grow your business. You don’t wait for the special event. You don’t wait until you go to the special training. You start now! You don’t worry about failing. You make a decision to take control NOW. Even if you screw up, you WON’T screw up! You’ll experience a little bit of success, you’ll learn from your mistakes and your business will grow. These effects compound multiple times over and over. If you can do that then you’ll succeed. Simply keep doing those activities OVER and OVER again. Simple!

If that activity was putting out flyers in a parking lot, then simply go out and put more flyers out. Answer the calls and invite people to the business presentation, or give them a free sample, or however you handle the leads.

Just keep doing it over and over.

If it is classifieds, take out another ad!

If it is calling your friends and family, make another list. Use memory joggers. Think about the people you work with, the people at your church, the people at your club, the people from your college, the people from your high school… Make a bigger list and call more people.

Get started NOW. Don’t wait for the special event, speaker, training, or infomercial.

I promise you, YOU WILL BE REWARDED FOR YOUR EFFORT.

Managing a Team

I’m going to be BRUTALLY honest with you guys.

Sometimes managing a team of people can be a real pain. As I mentioned I have over 420 people on my team.

I still work a job for 35 hours a week (until next year). I have my wife at home. I have some personal things I like to do occasionally too.

My business consists of not only building my own business and attracting new customers and distributors but it also includes helping my other team members build their business.

I’m a leader. I put myself out there. I host web sites for everyone on the team (free). I run a weekly training call. This puts my name out in front of everyone. It doesn’t matter if they were personally sponsored by me or if they are 10 levels below me.

Sometimes this makes life difficult. Especially after one of these training calls, the next 2 or 3 days I’ll be busy fielding calls from people who aren’t being properly trained. They don’t know who to go to for help and they see me as being a successful leader so they contact me. I might be at my job. I might be at home having dinner or watching a movie. I might even be asleep. They don’t always know I live on the east coast so they think it is 9 PM there when it is really midnight in Boston.

It can be annoying at times… I just have to remind myself that this is actually so much easier than going to work a job 35 hours a week! A home business gives me freedom! I can turn off the phone for two hours while I watch a movie. I can wait until the morning to call someone back (unless it is an emergency). I can take a week off (or a month!)

Right now I make pretty decent money, however my team is still at that odd phase. Let me see if I can diagram this out for you guys so you can see what I’m talking about.

Hmm. I can’t diagram it out here. I’ll add the diagram after I get home.

Basically when you start out in network marketing (the most common home business) you start out like this.

Home Business Phase One
Its just you, and a couple of people. You put in a lot of work at first for very little reward. It looks like an upside down pyramid. It is you at the top with a bunch of people under you, not many on level 2, less on level 3, one or two on level 4, etc.

You put in BIG EFFORT = small reward (so far.)

Home Business Phase Two
After a few years (for some of you it may be faster, for others it may take longer) your team grows. You have not only you, but you’ve sponsored quite a few people. These people have in turn sponsored a few more. You’ve got a growing base of customers. Your downline now looks like a diamond. You are at the top and you have a growing base of distributors 3 and 4 levels deep however your lower levels are kind of small. only a few on level 5, 6, 7 etc.

Your efforts = your rewards. So if you continue to put in big effort you’ll start to see rewards that are more in line with the amount of time you work.

Home Business Phase Three (this is the phase I am entering)
This will probably take you a few years and might even take you 10 years or more of hard work. At this point you’ll have a HUGE team. It will be in the shape of a pyramid. You’ll have personally sponsored a bunch of people, but they in tern will have sponsored more and more people. Every level you’ve got more and more distributors and customers.

At this point it is a snowball. You couldn’t stop it if you wanted to. You have a bunch of solid successful leaders making excellent money. You’ve got a downline of thousands. At this point you have so many leaders that even if you get sick, retire, etc. your business will still continue to grow.

continued effort = BIG REWARDS!

Your reward is phenomenal compared to the effort you put in. You might put in 20 hours a week but you make more than you did in your job even only working part-time. Some network marketers are among the highest paid people in the world. I think the statistics are that more millionaires come from network marketing than any other business, much less any other home based business! This is why. You just have to stick it out!

If I didn’t have my 35 hour a week job, the amount of time I put in and the amount of work I put in managing my team would be minimal :) Soon my business will be generating enough income that I can leave that job! That is going to be a GREAT DAY!

The Single Mom’s Home Business, Home Schooling, Let’s Make a Difference Blog!

Hi All! Hi Ben!

Thanks for the lovely introduction. I am glad to be here, and the invitation could not have happened at a more interesting time. More about this later……..

I am a single mom, and writing this on Mother’s Day just seemed like a natural thing for me to do. Although I do not think I am one dimensional, my role as a mother of one (Parker, age 19 as of this week), has definitely been the focus and the motivating force in a lot of my decisions over the last 20 years. As I look back, I cannot be sure if I would have started networking several years ago, had it not been for Parker.

A woman who was dating a man I had once loved sent me some natural health products - which company it was is really immaterial. I did not know the woman, nor did I want to know her, so I did not take them. When she called, and persisted, I agreed to try them during what I was referring to as “hell week” in my mind. I was sure nothing would make the week better, and then I could send them back to her, and not have to hear from her again. To my utter amazement, the week flew by like a breeze. The capper was when Parker, then 7 , looked at me and said “Mommy, you are laughing LIKE YOU USED TO”!!!

Needless to say, I was hooked on the product, in a good way, and built my first networking group in that company. Other people noticed the changes in me, and wanted to try the products as well, and soon I had a nice part time income, enough so that I could cut back my hours, work only half time, and be the equivalent of a full time mom, going on field trips, and always being there after school.

Time has passed since then, with lots of learning adventures along the way. I currently have a nutritional products group, and also a company that helps people build stronger relationships, whether personal or business. I do some direct sales online as well, and work for a large company in the transportation industry. I make more from home than I do from my job, and I would probably be able to quit my job this fall, but I do not know that I will. I enjoy my work, and my businesses, which are growing rapidly, do not take all of my time.

The homeschooling with my son was made possible and was inextricably intertwined with my networking over the years. I will explore this in later posts - there is a lot to say, and I am very grateful to have had the time with him. He recently began work for an international software firm as a support engineer, so I feel that his education is serving him well so far. He will be starting college full time in the next few months as well, majoring in computer science and Asian studies.

My current goals in my home business are to facilitate communications between a number of people, a high number actually, and to help anyone who sincerely wants to, to transform their lives the way that my life has been transformed. Some will be looking for more prosperity, some for time, some for a different quality of life - maybe the freedom to set their own schedule, or to choose with whom they will work. Networking has improved my life in all of these ways, and more.

Because of my networking, we live in a beautiful brand new two story house, that has a wetland literally in my back yard. I work with a wonderful group of people, doing things that I enjoy. I have started a company called A Different Destiny, and as time moves forward, will be using it as an umbrella to assist others in change, which is almost always from the inside out.

The landscapers are here, putting in my sprinklers and sod. I need to go out, and enjoy that for a bit. I will post again, tomorrow, and maybe say more about homeschooling.

Breathe in, breathe out, and take a step!

Most important thing I can do to help my new distributors

I wanted to write today about what it takes to succeed.

I’m doing pretty well. I make enough money every month to pay my car payment, all my credit card payments, etc.

I’m not quite doing well enough yet to quit my job, but I could do so! I’m making this kind of income part-time. If I was working the business full time I’m sure my income would jump dramatically.

At this point I am building a sales team of distributors. My team is approximately 420 people. It took a lot to get to this point. We had to find and help build up a team of leaders that each go out and build their own teams. We’d never get to 420 people on our own! It takes some good leaders to get to that point. Leaders like our own Autumn Anderson who I have invited to write some articles of her own.

One of the things that I started doing back in January was to rely more on more on my leaders. But I found that we’d gotten so big that new people were joining us and getting confused. They had 3 or 4 leaders telling them what to do. It was sort of information overload. We have web sites, training sites, webinars, conference calls, etc.

In December we were the fastest growing team in the company. One of the things I realized in April was that we weren’t growing nearly as fast. I was trying to think of things we were doing in December that we perhaps weren’t doing as well in April. One of the things I came up with was “training”. We have advanced training every saturday put on by my Mentor Glenn Garnes. However this is advanced training and is not intended for a new distributor.

We even have recorded versions of our old new agent trainings from December. However new agents were having a hard time finding this data. Or perhaps there wasn’t any urgency. For whatever reason they weren’t actually doing that new agent training!

Another thing I found is that we’d expect our distributors to train their distributors. But what happens when you have a new distributor who sponsors another new distributor. When you have two or three new people together they can’t train one another because they don’t know what to do yet! They are excited and motivated because they just launched a new business, but they get confused.

I decided to step up and offer new agent training again. I setup a regular monday night training call so that new agents will ALWAYS know what time the training call will be held.

I want new agents to be able to plugin RIGHT AWAY and get some basic training. I want them to be able to get started quickly while they are still excited and I want to help them earn a few pay checks RIGHT AWAY, their first month! In my experience this one factor seperates the people who stick with it and succeed (even if they have some obstacles along the way.) The people that don’t get paychecks right away usually give up.

Last monday we launched our new distributor training call.

I’ll keep you posted of the progress between April and May. I’ll let you know how many new distributors we add and how much of an impact it has on our team.

- Ben Fitts
ben@benjaminfitts.com

PS. BTW - total time invested? 1 hour per week on monday nights. Thats 4-5 hours a month. Right now we’re using 50 lines a week and this means we can host the calls for free on FreeConference.com. Since the training is always the same it doesn’t require a lot of preparation. However I am POSITIVE that it is going to be worth 4-5 hours a month of my time. I’m not sure there is anything I can do that is more important than training my distributors and helping them off to a fast start! I’m going to be honest with you guys and give you my results so you can compare with me:

50 new distributors April 2005
86.06% of all distributors are active distributors

Lets see how high we can get these numbers! I’d love to see 90-95% activity and to keep building that number of new distributors. What we also can’t see is the number of distributors getting a paycheck every week or every month… however the number of active distributors is probably a pretty good gauge of how many distributors are receiving checks.

Introducing Ben Fitts

Hi guys,

My name is Benjamin Fitts. People usually call me Ben. I’m a 32 year old entreprenuer from Boston, MA. Don’t hold that against me as I actually have lived all over including: California, Mississippi, Louisiana, New Jersey, and New York.

I am a technology guy. In the early 90’s (1993) I was already on the internet. I wasn’t a computer guy in school but I’m young enough that I had a computer for most of my teenage years. When the internet boom happened I was in position to make a business from it. My first business was a regional internet service provider. While they didn’t go so well it did give me enough experience to move on and get a job in the technology field.

This was the beginning of the internet bubble which would eventually burst in 2000-2001. However for the rest of the 90’s a lot of money was being made. Companies were going public and people were becoming millionaires over night. I thought I would go work really hard for one of these companies and after a few years my company would go public and make me very wealthy.

In 2000 I was working at a dot.com that was my dream job. I really enjoyed working there. I enjoyed what we were doing. I enjoyed the people I worked with. I put every bit of effort I could into it. I was working 60 hours a week. When we had deadlines coming up I would work 80-100 hours a week. I didn’t start out that way, but I missed the last train going home a couple of times. Pretty soon I was sleeping over night at the office. I did this so much that they bought me one of those Aerobed mattresses so I could sleep there more often.

Things were going great. I was a newlywed. We were making a lot of money. We were setting aside about $500 a month in the stock market which we were planning to use as a downpayment on a house.

I thought things were great.

It was February 2001. I was home sick. I got a call from one of the Vice President’s of the company. They were calling me to let me know that there were layoffs today. I was being kept on but my boss and several of my coworkers were let go.

WHAT?

This was not the way things happened in my dream!

I ended up being laid off April 15, 2001. The job market had changed drastically over the past year. Instead of having dozens of interviews and half a dozen job offers to choose from, I didn’t have anything lined up.

What was worse was I realized my marriage was in trouble. Working 80 hours or more every week was killing our relationship. My wife was lonely. She probably was even getting depressed. I thought that perhaps moving somewhere closer to one of her friends and buying that house would be a way to cheer her up.

So we moved from Boston to New Jersey, bought a house, and took two new jobs. We got paid $20,000 less than we did in Boston, and we had to purchase a second car. Our net income dropped and we could barely pay the bills and keep up.

I didn’t know what to do.

That was the point at which I found network marketing for the second time. I was aware of network marketing and how I could build a home business for very low cost, but when I looked at networking in the mid 90’s it didn’t appeal to me. I thought working for a dot.com and going public were how I’d make my dreams come true. I figured I’d work really hard for a few years and then my dot.com would make me rich. We’d go public or be bought out and I’d make enough money that I could buy that dream house and then I could take a job I wanted and enjoyed instead of one that paid me the most money.

Network Marketing (MLM) was the answer. In networking you truley can build a significant business in just a few years time. Your paycheck is based on your efforts. If you work really hard building your business you can definitely go from nothing to quitting your job in just 3-5 years.

I’ve been network marketing now for a little less than 4 years and am starting to experience serious success. I make weekly bonus checks and large monthly checks. I’m looking to quit my job next summer.

How many other 32 year olds can say that?

I’m going to share my experience here on these pages so that you can find out just what it takes to start your own home business. You can learn from my mistakes and my success. Yes, I’ve screwed up a few times and had some small failures but I’ve learned from everyone of them and it has made me more successful in everything I do. My marriage is stronger because of it. My work for my employer is stronger because of it. My home business is growing by leaps and bounds.

Thank you for taking the time to read my story and share with me. Please feel free to leave comments or email me with questions or suggestions. I’ll be glad to help in any way I can.

Regards,
Ben Fitts

Welcome to Home Business Blogs

Hello and welcome to Home Business Blogs!

My name is Benjamin (Ben) Fitts and I am the founder of Home Business Blogs. I’ve been an entreprenuer for most of my life and currently teach people to build their own home businesses. I want to share my experiences with you so that you can learn what it really takes to succeed as an entreprenuer.

I’m going to be honest with you and share both my success and my failures. I want you guys to see that this is a learning process and I didn’t start out successful. I had some failures along the way and had to learn what works.

One of the things I see when I teach people to build a home business is that many people have the misconception that a home business is going to be successful over night. They seem to have fallen prey to the hype and get rich quick schemes and really don’t plan to put a lot of work into it.

Actually I think a lot of it is simply fear. Fear of failure, or in some cases, fear of success. My friend, mentor, and coach Jeffery Combs says that we’ve spent 20,000 meals with the wrong set of financial advisors. Our parents ;) Robert Kiyosaki teaches in RichDad poor dad the difference between what rich parents teach their kids and what poor parents teach their kids. Poor parents teach their kids to go to school and get a good job. Rich parents teach their kids to build businesses so that they can have people working for them. Instead of working for money, they put money to work for them.

Hopefully I can share some of these concepts and ideas with you in a way that you can learn from them. I’ll also be sharing pracitcal tips and experience from my efforts in business. For example I can show you the $250 advertisement I just ran that got me 3 phone calls. LOL! See, even I screw up sometimes! I just have to learn from those mistakes, and try again!

I’m also going to invite some special guests to write here. They’ll be free to talk about whatever they want. No censorship. They may even be in competing businesses or completely disagree with me! But these are people I respect and I think you can learn a lot from them!

Let’s get started!
