Google Adsense Tips

I recently found this helpful Google Adsense information.

This is from Google’s web site where some of their Adsense staff members hosted a webinar. They invited some top Adsense affiliates to join them for the webinar.

Google adsense webinar

Check it out.

A lot of the info at the beginning is basic stuff most of you already know. But towards the end of the article the info gets better and better especially when they talk to their top affiliates who also give out domains where they currently use Adsense.

Internet Marketing Tip - Add a bookmark this site button to your web site

Hi guys,

One of the things I do when I create a new web site is try to encourage people to bookmark my site. The theory is that the more people who bookmark your site, the more return visitors you will have.

This is actually really simple to do. You can just setup a javascript link that works in Internet Explorer. Since the majority of people visiting my site use internet explorer all they have to do is click on the link and they can bookmark my site. Check out the new Add our site to your favorites link in the right hand column.

If the reader doesn’t use Internet Explorer they are prompted with a link that tells them they can bookmark our site by holding CTRL and pressing D at the same time on their keyboard.

This is a really simple tip that increases the number of users who bookmark your site!

For the complete script visit the Javascript archives at Internet.com.

HDTV Affiliate - changing affiliates to make more money

There comes a time when you have to realize you made a mistake.

Cognigen is a great program and I have made a lot of money with them. However I find now that I haven’t been making as much money from them as I could with other programs.

If I am focusing on my own personal sales instead of on building a team… Cognigen is not the best way to go. They pay out lower commissions because they pay out 6 levels deep.

With other Dish Network Satellite tv affiliates I can get paid significantly more money.

So I’m now making a change to all my Dish web sites.

Here are the two programs I’ve found, (that are very similar) for selling Dish Network and DirecTV. Both start out at $70 per sale instead of $50 like I got paid in Cognigen. In addition once you get to 6 sales you get paid $90, and when you get to 10 you get paid $110! I’ve definitely missed out a lot by selling through Cognigen instead of direct through these affiliate programs.

Here are the two awesome programs I just added to GetHD.tv:

Rapid Satellite for DirecTV affiliates

Dish Pronto for Dish Network affiliates

Both programs pay out two levels deep. Meaning if any of you signup as a result of this blog entry I earn $10 per sale you make. I’d probably recommend them anyway just because they pay out more than Cognigen.

Cognigen is a great company and has a lot of awesome products. However for Satellite television services you can make better commissions with other vendors.

My new HDTV affiliate project

Today I’m launching a new project to build a web site to generate sales of satellite television services. I thought I’d write about it here on my blog so you guys can see the process that someone goes through to develop a successful affiliate web site.

I’ve been involved in my Cognigen network marketing business for a couple of years now. Cognigen is like an affiliate program because it is free to join and I get to sell products from a bunch of different vendors. The cool part about Cognigen is I get paid multiple levels deep. Anyway, enough about that. The point is that Cognigen has a partnership where I can sell Dish Networks satellite systems. I’ve sold quite a bunch of them through Cognigen and even won a contest for selling the most Dish systems in one month.

Our Dish affiliate is cool because I get paid $50 per sale. PLUS they have telephone orders. That way I don’t loose any important sales. Dish is also cool because they recently obtained rights to the old VOOM HDTV programming. So now Dish has more HDTV channels than anyone else. So it makes sense to sell Dish Network satellite on an HDTV based web site right?

I know what I want to sell. I have my unique marketing ploy (the more HDTV content than anyone else.) Now I’m ready to build a site.

I fell in love with this domain name awhile back. The dot.com version was taken so I came up with this idea. I’d buy the .tv version. The domain I came up with is: GetHD.tv. Normally I wouldn’t buy a .tv domain but this one was kinda cool and if I am only marketing it online I don’t have to worry too much about people typing in the dot.com version instead of .tv. They should usually be coming to my site via a search engine or a web link from another site. You have to admit GetHD.tv makes for a cool brand name right?

So now I’m ready to start building my site. I’ve got a product I want to market, I’ve got a topic to cover on my sales pages, an affiliate program to sell, and a domain name.

I can do web designs but it takes me days to put together anything decent. Why not simply BUY templates cheaply. This was about the time I discovered Template Monster.

For my new HDTV web site I just discovered a $14 web template. It isn’t the greatest but it is pretty professional looking and will save me hours (probably a day’s) worth of time. Now all I have to do is start editing the template and make it look good.

So far I’ve invested $14 for a template and $34.95 for a domain. I have my own dedicated web server so there is no additional cost for me to add this new site to it. So my total so far is $48.95. I can make that much back in just one sale. :-)

Secret tip for promoting your home business

This is a top secret tip. My friend would probably beat me if he knew I was giving this out. He uses this tip daily to build his internet businesses.

This is a very simple tool you can use to build your business. It is FREE to use although they also offered paid versions. You do NOT have to use the paid version to experience huge success in your business.

The tip is free press releases using PRWEB. PRWeb is a service run by PR Newswire. You can submit a free press release through PRWeb. PRWeb then goes out and submits your press release to various news organizations, magazines, and hundreds or thousands of web sites.

PRWeb has a free RSS feed of their news. Web sites looking for content can put the latest press releases on their site as a way to enhance the content of the site. They can select specific categories to display.

In my experience this is a huge feature of PRWeb. Even if my press release is horribly written it gets me listed on hundreds of web sites and that means incoming links to my site.

Now that I’m thinking about it, this is such a powerful technique, I’m going to stop here. I don’t want to give away too many details on how to do this and why it is important!

Take a look at PRWeb and try out a free press release or two for yourself.

What is the most important thing for network marketers?

I was having a discussion the other day with someone on a web site.

He was saying that the most important thing in network marketing was training.

I do agree that this is an important thing, but I don’t think it keeps you from failing.

I think what keeps you from failing is persistent effort. You have to be constantly working and building your business. You can be horrible at it, but if you keep talking to people the “law of large numbers” says that you will eventually find someone who says yes. Even if you always say the wrong thing, even if your product is horrible, someone will eventually buy from you.

I started out like that. My marriage was in trouble because I was working 80-100 hours a week. I had been laid off and in order to get a new job my wife and I took a $20,000 paycut. I was really motivated to go out and do whatever it took to succeed.

I wasn’t a success right away. Not even within my first 2 years. I just kept working at it and I made enough money to keep me going. I didn’t have mentors or a training system at first. I got started mostly because a friend showed me the business and it made sense to me. I didn’t ask my friend if he had a proven system, I just asked him where to signup.

Most people that join a network marketing company are like this. Someone they know and trust pointed them to their company/product. So they joined them without doing research into the company, their upline, their training systems, their business systems, etc.

Guess, what? That is ok! I’m living proof that you can still succeed even if you don’t have an upline who helps you.

Heck, my good friend Diane has been doing this for years. She says I’m her first upline that truly acts like an upline and helps work with her team. Usually Diane has been on her own. Her upline wasn’t helpful so she had to invent their training systems and she had to do it herself.

I’ve even seen it happen where someone got awesome training but they never did anything with it. Their fear prevented them from acting on it. They were afraid of failure. So they didn’t do ANYTHING and ended up failing anyway. What they actually did is known as “getting ready to get ready”. They not only learned my system, but then they went out and learned another system. They kept studying and trying to learn how to do it, but they never DID anything.

The BEST thing you can do is simply:

Do it!

Don’t give up.

Keep talking to people. Keep learning. Keep building your business. Take persistent action to build your business every day.

I agree that training is good, but it isn’t any good if you don’t actually get out and do anything!

Do you disagree?

Leave me a comment and let me know what you think!

Internet Marketing Tip - Generating traffic for your web site

I’ve found that blogs are very easy sites to get traffic for. There are a ton of blog directories and search engines that simply provide links to blog rss feeds. They show when a blog has been updated and usually show a headline. I’ve found this to be a very reliable way to get my site listed quickly on dozens of web sites.

This helps people find me, it also helps the search engines find me and boosts up my ranking a bit. You really can’t loose by creating a blog and getting in listed in other blog directories.

You want to create your blog and spend some time updating it before you submit your site. You want to post a few articles so people who review your site can verify the quality of the site. You can also do some things like pick a nice template, add a few links, etc. to make your site look more sophisticated. If you have an ugly blog with no articles, you may not be listed in the blog
directories. So make sure you put a bit of effort into your site before submitting it.

When you submit your web site most directories want you to provide the page directly to your RSS feed. If you are using a service like blogger, typepad, or live journal, then they probably have a little XML icon on your page which links to your RSS feed. If you click on that icon you’ll see your RSS feed. Your RSS feed should look something like our RSS feed. Now go to the top of your web browser and copy that link.

Now where do you go to submit your site?

I went to DMOZ and Yahoo to lookup Blog Directories. Then I manually went to each directory and submitted my site. It takes a little while but once you get the hang of it, it is pretty easy. Some of the blog directories require you to link back to them. You may have to put a text link or button on your blog before they’ll list you.

If that seems like a lot of work, then here is a tip for you. My friend Josiah has been putting together a service that will automatically submit your blog to the top 50 blog directories and
search engines. His service is called RSS Directory Submission. For only $8.95 he’ll submit your blog to 50 different directories for you. That way you don’t have to waste 4 or more hours doing it by hand.

In short blogs are a good marketing tool because you can get yourself listed on hundreds of other sites pretty easily. This gives you traffic and also helps you in the search engine listings. However you want to do it, I suggest you get started today. Don’t wait for 6 months or a year before starting your BLOG because they might loose their popularity or the BLOG directories might make their submission requirements tougher. Once upon a time Yahoo was free to get listed on. Now it costs $299 for a listing. Don’t ket this happen to you with the BLOG directories.
