Stamp Collecting, Stamp Auctions, and Stamp Dealers
My Friend Larry is big into stamp collecting.
He is one of the biggest collectors of Malaria Stamps in the world.
Well Larry and I were discussing the other day how all the stamp collecting blogs on Blogger are all fake. Most of the people generate fake blogs and then link to porn or viagra or whatever. These people have been able to fake Google out. If you look at the top 100 stamp collecting blogs on Google only something like 1 or 2 out of 100 are legitimate stamp blogs. The rest are all fake blogs generated by spam software.
So Larry decided to make a real stamp collecting site. So far he’s got 26 pages of listings of stamp dealers and stamp auctions. He finds big lists of these and then goes through each one by hand to make sure they are legitimate sites. In some cases half the sites he finds at Yahoo, Google, etc. are spam sites that link to ebay, porn, or some other crap.
Check out his mission statement and learn what got him started.
How does this apply to home business you ask?
Well, no matter what the topic is there is a business to be had. Most people reading this blog probably don’t care about stamps. But guess what? Countless thousands of people do care about stamp collecting. Larry has found has niche. He enjoys stamps and so he enjoys making web sites like his stamp sites directory.
This is much like my article inexpensive wine and my buddy Jack. Find a niche. It doesn’t have to be an “internet marketing” site. Find a niche. I’ve been writing about home theater and HDTV lately. I bought an HDTV and thought it would be a fun topic to write about.
There is a niche for you out there. What do you like to do?
Need some help coming up with a niche? Leave me a comment and lets chat! I’ll be glad to help you come up with some ideas.
