I’m testing out something called Pay Per Post.

Pay Per Post is a site that allows you to earn money by blogging. Advertisers list products they want you to review and you post on them. When you post on them you earn a small commission. They usually give you a topic they want you to write about and maybe a link they want you to link to. Sometimes they even provide pictures or other things to include in your blog. Think grass routes PR.

Depending on how high your blog’s Google Page Rank and Alexa Rank are you can earn a lot of money blogging. Several advertisers are posting jobs where a single post can earn you $50 or more if your site is ranked well enough. One currently lists a job with a price of $1000 for posting on their site, but you must be a page rank 8 blog!

We had an excellent Squidoo Training call with Bob Jenkins from Squidoo Secrets.

We covered a lot of topics and went through actually creating a lens.

I like HDTV so we decided to setup a lens on that topic. We tried http://www.squidoo.com/hdtv but someone already had it. So then I went to google’s keyword tool and entered in HDTV to see what came back. We tried a few of the top keywords like plasma hdtv but no luck. We settled on DLP HDTV.

It took us about 15 minutes to make the lens on the call. We added an Amazon.com section and added some tvs. We put in an ebay section and linked to some ebay auctions on HDTV.

One of the things Bob pointed out that I didn’t realize was that you can have multiple Amazon.com add ons for example. So I can have one section on DLP HDTV’s. Another section on cables. Another section on accessories. This allows me to monetize my Squidoo lens better.

I also added some text sections between the amazon.com stuff to explain it better and provide a little bit of real content so people feel like I know what I’m talking about and less like I’m only trying to sell them.

I don’t understand what happened.

I guess Tino got tired of managing 2000 bloggers so he handed it off to someone else. These wankers decided to take out the original 300 people because “we didn’t request to join 2000 bloggers”.

(What am I talking about? Missed the original post on 2000 bloggers? Read it here.)

DUH. I doubt any of us wanted to be removed. We were all proud and happy to have been included in the first 300. Everyone that came after had to ask to be in. It was sort of a badge of honor.

However the new wankers running the show took us out of the headlines. I just found out and had to ask to be let back in. Now instead of being in the top row of bloggers on everyone’s site I’m down around 1700.

It’s pretty convenient that the person taking over can remove 300 people and change the list completely, because now they can seed it with their photos, their friends, etc.

I can’t imagine why anyone would have complained that they were one of the first 300 and why anyone would want to be excluded? Can you?

I’d love to hear your comments. Am I being crazy here?

The Squidoo Secrets training call was awesome. Bob Jenkins from Squidoo Secrets came out to help me and offer his advice on Squidoo.

I had a little problem setting up the recording of the call, but once we got started everything went well. We talked for a few minutes on why you should Squidoo. I showed some search engine rankings where squidoo “lenses” are showing up in the top 3 results for some searches at Google.

We then got into the business of making a lens. Bob suggested that we really focus on three things when making a lens.

1. Pick a url for you Lens by trying out several. Just type them in as in http://www.squidoo.com/keyword and see what is available. I suggested using the Google Keyword tool to help you find keywords on the topic you are interested in.

2. The next step is your title and Bob suggested taking a lot of time to compose a keyword rich title for your Lens. Something interesting to people but keyword rich so that search engines will love it.

3. The next step is to pick several tags or keywords for your Lens. One thing I didn’t realize was that when searching for other sites on Squidoo they only search the keyword tags. They don’t search the content. In this step you can pick 3 additional keywords for your Lens. Once you have created the Lens you can click in the right hand column to add more keywords. He suggests you add as many as you can think of. You can also use the Google Keyword tool to help you come up with some other ideas for keywords to add to your Lens.

The call went on and we covered a bunch of other topics, which I won’t get into at the moment.

Quick Reminder.

I am hosting TWO Internet Marketing Trainings tomorrow Saturday February 17th.

On one of my mailing lists yesterday someone accused me of spamming them when I told them about Squidoo and about my STEP by STEP training on HOW TO Squidoo.

Do you Squidoo?

Squidoo is a new type of social networking site. You can search squidoo for information on any topic you want.

Why would you want to do that?

Well Squidoo allows you to setup sites called “lenses”. Basically a lens is your “view” of a particular topic you are interested in. It could be a personal topic or a business. They give you a bunch of pre-made tools to help you make your site. In just 5-10 minutes you can have a fully functioning powerful web site.

What do I mean?

Well check out my lens on me, Benjamin Fitts. (be sure to vote this a 5 star lens!)

I can put in text, and photos. I can link my photos to my Flickr account or my Youtube account and even show thumbnails of those photos/images.

I can also do ecommerce related activities like link to amazon.com listings, ebay auctions, cafe press, and more. I can either keep the money I earn from these links or I can donate them to charitable causes!

That’s just part of Squidoo. The other powerful part of Squidoo is it helps with your main business web site’s rankings!

I could tell you more but it would take all day and my friend Bob the Teacher’s new ebook and web site called Squidoo Secrets covers the topic better than I ever could. I thought I knew all there was to know about Squidoo but Bob took it to the next level and showed me some really cool new tricks. I’m using some of these techniques already to make more money with Squidoo and promote my other web sites!
