How a Simple Tweet Led to a Tidal Wave

twitter tidal wave How a Simple Tweet Led to a Tidal WaveDear readers,

How can a simple Tweet led to a tidal wave?

A tidal wave of new users to your web site…

Recently myself and hundreds of other network marketers joined a Social Media game called Empire Avenue.

It all came about as a result of a simple tweet.

I think you’ll find this interesting for your own social media marketing.

Day 1:  A tweet about this new social media game  reaches Randy Gage. It must be from someone of influence to get him to even look at it.

Randy Gage is a well known network marketing leader and author. He joins Empire Avenue on Friday May 6, 2011. (EAv ticker: e(RGAGE))

(Edit: Randy says it wasn’t any one person who told him about the game but more of a group effort.  He clarrified with me via a tweet: “I just saw a lot of early adopters all talking about it”.)

Randy FIRST tweets about the game.

I’m an employee now? RT @mramos87: Shared via EmpireAvenue.com Randy Gage (e)RGAGE was promoted to Employee of the ‘Jedi Knights’ Index!

Now that was his first tweet about the game and it was a retweet… Apparently he didn’t announce it or anything until he retweeted this.

I saw this on Twitter on Friday and it stood out to me, because it says “I’m an employee now.” I knew Randy was a millionaire business owner and wanted to know why he was an employee now. At this point I Google “Empire Avenue” to see what it was.

***  I see the tweet, find it interesting. I look at the web site, see it is a game and ignore it. I am not interested in wasting time on a game. ***

Day 2: Saturday May 7th Art Jonak e(JONAK) joins Randy Gage in the game.

Just like Randy, Art doesn’t mention it on Twitter. However someone buys Art’s shares and mentions it so this tweet is made:

LJHSolution Invest in Art Jonak (@ArtJonak) on the world’s only social media exchange, Empire Avenue http://t.co/0X4Y0fJ

And subsquently Art’s first reply, also a retweet:

@LJHSolution Lene – hope U got 200 shares in @ArtJonak – ’cause my stock is low & is about to sky rocket! icon smile How a Simple Tweet Led to a Tidal Wave Jump in:http://t.co/0X4Y0fJ â–²

Day 3: Sunday May 8th Jim Gillhouse e(JimGillhouse) joins the game and recommends it to Diane Walker e(mlmblonde) Diane mentions it on Facebook.

*** At this point I’ve read several recommendations via Tweets or Facebook posts from people I follow and people I consider peers/mentors in business.

I know Diane Walker really well. I’ve had the opportunity to work closely with her for 7 years and have known her for almost 10. I know she doesn’t play games very often. ***

Day 4: Monday May 9th I finally join Empire Avenue.

As a result of these influencers joining, many more people have joined, including other big name influencers.

Eric Worre, Big Al, Ann Sieg, Joe Syverson, Todd Falcone to name a few of the network marketing leaders, gurus, and coaches that have joined since.  I’m sure many more have joined I don’t know personally or just haven’t realized are on!

This is how one Tweet can spark a tidal wave of activity.  If you get the right influencers involved.

One little tweet got a tidal wave started… and now everyone’s doing it icon wink How a Simple Tweet Led to a Tidal Wave

Now we’re involved and engaged in a new community of people over at Empire Avenue. We’re making new connections and who knows where those will lead.  I’ve met a few people already I plan to stay connected with and at least a couple that are candidates for my business.

One simple tweet; even just a retweet about someone purchasing some shares… and that led to a few more… and a few more… and a few more… Pretty soon hundreds (or thousands) of people could be on YOUR web site.

This is the beauty of social media marketing.

What is your Facebook or Twitter Profile worth?

empire avenue ben fitts What is your Facebook or Twitter Profile worth?Dear reader,

Do you know what your Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and LinkedIn profiles are worth?

I need to preface this by saying I don’t normally play games.

Recently I discovered a Social Media game that offers some insights into how your social media profiles rank.

It is a game where you buy and sell stock in other people and business social media profiles.

You can buy stock in Gary Vaynerchuck… or Twitter… or Google… or Randy Gage… or Art Jonak… or John Milton Fogg.

You can also see how your social media profiles stack up.

They will give you a score on how your profiles rank. (It takes a few days to get accurate scores for your profiles.)

You can use this game to see how other top rated social networkers build their profiles.

  • How do they communicate with their fans?
  • How do they offer extra value?
  • How do they get new fans?

These lessons can help you grow your own social media network.

Plus since the game is essentially an investment game where you buy and sell stocks you may learn some valuable investing strategy you can apply in real life as well.

Randy Gage just wrote an article yesterday explaining that he normally doesn’t play Facebook games like Farmville, Mafia Wars, etc. But he is playing this new social media game and finding it a lot of fun.

The game is called Empire Avenue.

Register online for free and enter in your profiles for Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Yahoo.

You can play the game online in a web browser or via Facebook.

Here are some top networker marketers profiles:

I think you’ll find it interesting even if all you do is create your profile to see how your various social media profiles rank.

Click here to create your Empire Avenue account.

If you like Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and LinkedIn I know you’ll find this interesting!

If you play Empire Avenue leave a comment with your link to your Empire Avenue account. That way we can all help one another by buying stock icon smile What is your Facebook or Twitter Profile worth?

Are you using the Slight Edge yet?

the slight edge Are you using the Slight Edge yet?Dear Readers,

Are you using the Slight Edge yet?

The Slight Edge is a great book by Jeff Olson.

But now it is more than a book.

Now the Slight Edge is a community of like minded people interested in the principles taught in the book.

As Art Jonak says when he sent me the book back in 2007, the Slight Edge is either working for you or against you.

What is it?

It is the consistent actions you take… Consistent daily actions.  Even small daily actions compounded over time can have dramatic effects.

On the other hand if you work hard, then stop, you’re killing all your momentum.

I know a guy who sponsored 23 people in his network marketing business in a single month, but then went almost a year without sponsoring anyone.

Heck after my own divorce I took 6 months off myself.  To get my business going again required a lot of work because I had no momentum. I had to build my prospect funnel again. I had to get back out networking, sponsoring new people, training new people, developing leaders.

I look forward to learning more about the Slight Edge community.  One thing Jeff Olson is doing with this site is he has recruited some Slight Edge ambassadors who can guide us through these Slight Edge principles.

Note: Social Networking on sites like Facebook is great… but you should always be looking for new places to meet like minded people.  I think this Slight Edge Community is a great place to meet success oriented people!

When you join the Slight Edge look me up. (BTW Joining is Free.)

The Slight Edge

I went full time as a network marketer on July 13, 2007. That was the last day of my JOB. On July 17th Art Jonak sent me a book to congratulate me on going full time.  The book was The Slight Edge: Secret to a Successful Life The Slight Edge by Jeff Olson.

What’s funny is I opened it and read the inscription Art put inside the book to congratulate me.  But that’s it.  I didn’t read it.

One of the things that we teach in our business is to read a little bit every day.  Read a good book about business or personal development even just one chapter a day. To be honest I was neglecting that part of my business. I was working on prospecting, following up, training people, and goofing off.  I work from home full time so sometimes I enjoy the fact that I don’t have to work.

Jen was sick last week. (My wife)  So I had to take her to the doctor and was looking for something to read. I saw the book Art Jonak sent me on bookshelf.  I finally picked it up.

Boy what a mistake I made. This is a great book and I suggest it to everyone.

The concepts in the book go back to a topic I’ve written about before… About how consistent daily action is what it really takes to succeed.  Even if it’s just a little bit every day like the idea of reading a chapter of a good business or personal development book every day.  The book discusses how if you read just 10 pages a day you’d have read 3560 pages by the end of one year or about a dozen great books.

There’s a lot more to it than that.

Think about it this way.  Let’s say you work a full time job and have a family.  You only have a small amount of time to put into your business every day.  It’s very important to take the right actions and do it consistently.  Developing new prospects and consistently following up with your existing prospects in your pipeline… Don’t allow yourself to get caught up in the activities that aren’t going to impact your business.

It’s like the lady at the beginning of the slight edge.  She had a great personality.  She knew all the employees by name.  Yet in her down time she spent time reading novels instead of books about personal development, finance, business, etc.  Imagine how different her life would have been if she had spent time reading books like that!

It’s not just about reading books.  Over the next couple of days I’ll try and share some more stories with you from the Slight Edge.

Maybe we should start a topic on books you recommend?
