Have you ever been burglarized?

burglar bill small 91dn Have you ever been burglarized?Dear readers,

Have you ever been burglarized?

I was listening to a motivational author the other day and he brought up a great point.  Burglars steal temporary things.  They steal TVs, Electronics, Computers, and Jewelry.  They can sell them quickly and make a little money.

They won’t ever become truly wealthy this way.

What if instead a burglar stole your personal development library?  What if they read those books on personal development and motivation?  What if they improved their skillset so they could perform better in a job or start a business or invest wisely?

The poor will always remain poor, UNLESS they work to improve themselves.

Successful entrepreneurs know that constant self improvement is the key to success. They hire coaches. They have accountability partners. They set goals. They review their performance and constantly work to improve them.

Burglars are like the people in our business who are always looking for a shortcut. They’re always looking for a way to make a quick buck and are only focused on the now. They aren’t  building for the future.

If you’re looking to develop yourself books like the Slight Edge, Think and Grow Rich, and Rich Dad Poor Dad are great starting points.

(BTW I was burglarized once. It is not a good feeling. However it is temporary and you learn you can replace all those “things”.)

Are you using the Slight Edge yet?

the slight edge Are you using the Slight Edge yet?Dear Readers,

Are you using the Slight Edge yet?

The Slight Edge is a great book by Jeff Olson.

But now it is more than a book.

Now the Slight Edge is a community of like minded people interested in the principles taught in the book.

As Art Jonak says when he sent me the book back in 2007, the Slight Edge is either working for you or against you.

What is it?

It is the consistent actions you take… Consistent daily actions.  Even small daily actions compounded over time can have dramatic effects.

On the other hand if you work hard, then stop, you’re killing all your momentum.

I know a guy who sponsored 23 people in his network marketing business in a single month, but then went almost a year without sponsoring anyone.

Heck after my own divorce I took 6 months off myself.  To get my business going again required a lot of work because I had no momentum. I had to build my prospect funnel again. I had to get back out networking, sponsoring new people, training new people, developing leaders.

I look forward to learning more about the Slight Edge community.  One thing Jeff Olson is doing with this site is he has recruited some Slight Edge ambassadors who can guide us through these Slight Edge principles.

Note: Social Networking on sites like Facebook is great… but you should always be looking for new places to meet like minded people.  I think this Slight Edge Community is a great place to meet success oriented people!

When you join the Slight Edge look me up. (BTW Joining is Free.)

What do you do immediately before bed?

Dear readers,

That’s an interesting title, right?  “What do you do immediately before bed?”

Research shows that immediately before sleep your mind is in one of it’s most receptive states.  What you feed your mind right before you sleep is very important. For example it can effect how well you sleep. If you’re focusing on reprogramming your brain to be more successful… If you’re focusing on growing as a person and overcoming bad thoughts and bad habits, then what you feed your mind is very important.

At this important stage just before you go to sleep what do you feed your mind?

I had the opportunity recently to share a room on a road trip with a team member.  This team member wanted to watch news, violent tv shows, etc.  He would go to bed with the tv on and usually it would be on some sort of news channel.  I don’t know if you watch the news very often but it is almost entirely junk.  Almost all of it is negative because we as people are attracted to the negative stuff.  A news show full of negatives is going to get more viewers than a news show of positives.

I decided about 6 months ago to block the news entirely.  I’ve probably seen one or two hours of news in that 6 months.  Many of you probably watch that much news a day!

I watch very carefully what I watch, listen, or read before bed.  Is it something negative? Is it something positive?  I’m very careful about what “junk” enters my mind.

I’ve also started a new strategy.  I read about Jerry Clark the motiviational, personal development, and network marketing coach.  He used to listen to personal development tapes in his sleep.  That sounded like a great idea to me.

I put a bunch of my personal development library on my iPod.  Now I listen to my iPod as I’m going to sleep.  That way I’m putting positive thoughts into my brain while it is in a very receptive state.  Instead of putting in negatives like most people who watch the news or some other junk while they go to sleep I’m listening to positive personal development audio.

I already feel better after only doing it for a few days.  It seems like my dreams and my sleep are better.  I feel more confident.  I feel more motivated.

I can’t wait to see what my results are after doing this for 30 days.  I’ll report back here and let you know what breakthroughs I have.

Do any of you listen to personal development audios? Do you listen to them while driving? How about before bed?

I’d love to get your feedback…
