Success Is Easy, But So Is Neglect by Jim Rohn

jim rohn Success Is Easy, But So Is Neglect by Jim RohnA friend shared this article from Jim Rohn with me today. It is a really great one that you may want to share with your own teams.

People often ask me how I became successful in that six-year period of time while many of the people I knew did not. The answer is simple: The things I found to be easy to do, they found to be easy not to do. I found it easy to set the goals that could change my life. They found it easy not to do. I found it easy to read the books that could affect my thinking and my ideas. They found that easy not to do. I found it easy to attend the classes and the seminars, and to get around other successful people. They said it probably really wouldn’t matter. If I had to sum it up, I would say what I found to be easy to do, they found to be easy not to do. Six years later, I’m a millionaire and they are all still blaming the economy, the government, and company policies, yet they neglected to do the basic, easy things.

In fact, the primary reason most people are not doing as well as they could and should, can be summed up in a single word: neglect.

It is not the lack of money—banks are full of money. It is not the lack of opportunity—America, and much of the Free World, continues to offer the most unprecedented and abundant opportunities in the last six thousand years of recorded history. It is not the lack of books—libraries are full of books and they are free! It is not the schools—the classrooms are full of good teachers. We have plenty of ministers, leaders, counselors and advisors.

Everything we would ever need to become rich and powerful and sophisticated is within our reach. The major reason that so few take advantage of all that we have is simply neglect.

Neglect is like an infection. Left unchecked it will spread throughout our entire system of disciplines and eventually lead to a complete breakdown of a potentially joy-filled and prosperous human life.

Not doing the things we know we should do causes us to feel guilty and guilt leads to an erosion of self-confidence. As our self-confidence diminishes, so does the level of our activity. And as our activity diminishes, our results inevitably decline. And as our results suffer, our attitude begins to weaken. And as our attitude begins the slow shift from positive to negative, our self-confidence diminishes even more… and on and on it goes.

So my suggestion is that when giving the choice of “easy to” and “easy not to” that you do not neglect to do the simple, basic, “easy,” but potentially life-changing activities and disciplines.

When bad things happen in your MLM business… What should you do?

big al When bad things happen in your MLM business... What should you do?Here’s another great lesson from Tom Big Al Schreiter’s newsletter:

“When bad things happen, don’t lose the lesson.”

* I ate a bad meal once, but even though I had a bad experience, I decided to continue eating in the future.

* I ate another bad meal once (I attempted to cook), but even though the experience permanently scarred my attitude toward food, I decided to eat again.

* I saw a boring movie once, but even though I wasted my ticket money, I decided to go to other movies.

* I exercised once, and quit (okay, maybe this is a bad example).

* One of my friends bought a lottery ticket and lost. Yet, my friend continues to buy more tickets in the hope of eventually winning.

* Your prospect went bowling once and had a bad score. Yet, your prospect continues to bowl and he continues to enjoy the Tuesday nights out with friends.

* Your prospect had a bad date once, but continued to date new people.

* And your prospect may have failed or had a bad experience in network marketing once, twice, or even three times . . .

See the trend?

Just because your prospect had one bad experience, your prospect can still choose to take advantage of network marketing.

Don’t let the failures of our past dictate our future. We can change and improve our results.

20 Reasons Smart People Fail…

My buddy Jay McHugh shared this in his Monday Morning message. Jay is a top broker owner for Remax, a top realtor, and one of the leaders on our Send Out Cards team.

Jay and the top ReMax agents in New England are also hosting Gary Vaynerchuk in Boston on Friday. Tickets are way too affordable for you to miss it. If you’re anywhere in the area pick up a ticket today at: Crush it for a Cure  Proceeds from the event are also being donated to Susan G Komen! It’s a great cause.

20 Reasons Why Smart People Fail…

From OnePowerfulWord.com

1 Lack of motivation. A talent is irrelevant if a person is not motivated to use it. Motivation may be external (for example, social approval) or internal (satisfaction from a job well-done, for instance). External sources tend to be transient, while internal sources tend to produce more consistent performance.

2 Lack of impulse control. Habitual impulsiveness gets in the way of optimal performance. Some people do not bring their full intellectual resources to bear on a problem but go with the first solution that pops into their heads.

3 Lack of perseverance and perservation. Some people give up too easily, while others are unable to stop even when the quest will clearly be fruitless.

4 Using the wrong abilities. People may not be using the right abilities for the tasks in which they are engaged.

5 Inability to translate thought into action. Some people seem buried in thought. They have good ideas but rarely seem able to do anything about them.

6 Lack of product orientation. Some people seem more concerned about the process than the result of activity.

7 Inability to complete tasks. For some people nothing ever draws to a close. Perhaps it’s fear of what they would do next or fear of becoming hopelessly enmeshed in detail.

8 Failure to initiate. Still others are unwilling or unable to initiate a project. It may be indecision or fear of commitment.

9 Fear of failure. People may not reach peak performance because they avoid the really important challenges in life.

10 Procrastination. Some people are unable to act without pressure. They may also look for little things to do in order to put off the big ones.

11 Mis-attribution of blame. Some people always blame themselves for even the slightest mishap. Some always blame others.

12 Excessive self-pity. Some people spend more time feeling sorry for themselves than expending the effort necessary to overcome the problem.

13 Excessive dependency. Some people expect others to do for them what they ought to be doing themselves.

14 Wallowing in personal difficulties. Some people let their personal difficulties interfere grossly with their work. During the course of life, one can expect some real joys and some real sorrows. Maintaining a proper perspective is often difficult.

15 Distractions and lack of concentration. Even some very intelligent people have very short attention spans.

16 Spreading oneself too think or too thick. Undertaking too many activities may result in none being completed on time. Undertaking too few can also result in missed opportunities and reduced levels of accomplishment.

17 Inability to delay gratification. Some people reward themselves and are rewarded by others for finishing small tasks, while avoiding bigger tasks that would earn them larger rewards.

18 Inability to see the forest for the trees. Some people become obsessed with details and are either unwilling or unable to see or deal with the larger picture in the projects they undertake.

19 Lack of balance between critical, analytical thinking and creative, synthetic thinking. It is important for people to learn what kind of thinking is expected of them in each situation.

20 Too little or too much self-confidence. Lack of self-confidence can gnaw away at a person’s ability to get things done and become a self-fulfilling prophecy. Conversely, individuals with too much self-confidence may not know when to admit they are wrong or in need of self-improvement.

Reading Magazines Can Jumpstart Your MLM Business

Dear readers,Success Magazine 215x300 Reading Magazines Can Jumpstart Your MLM Business

What magazines do you read?

Did you know that reading magazines can jumpstart your MLM business?

Let’s start with business oriented magazines and self empowering magazines. There are magazines like Success Magazine or even the Network Marketing Magazine

I don’t mean the MLM junk magazines or MLM ad magazines that are full of ads. Certainly those don’t have any real content to them.

But let’s go a step further.

What is your dream?

Is your dream to be a pilot someday and own your own plane? Then why aren’t you reading magazines like Flying Magazine or Plane & Pilot. Those will inspire you. You’ll learn more about your goals of becoming a pilot and you’ll learn all about the different types of small aircraft. It will be FUN to dream.  Your dream becomes more of a REALITY.

What about cars? Do you like classic cars? There’s a bunch of magazines out there for you. icon smile Reading Magazines Can Jumpstart Your MLM Business I know I just ordered some myself.  Or maybe you like modern day sports cars… Again there are a bunch of magazines out there for you.

Travel? Yep, there are travel magazines full of amazing destinations, photos, reviews, stories, vacation ideas, etc.  Try getting some of these magazines and cutting out photos to go on your dream board.  Or just take some photos from these amazing tavel destinations to go on your desktop or computer wallpaper.

Home? Maybe you just want to build a nice home.  Maybe you want to install a home theater…. There are magazines dedicated to all of these things.  When I was first getting into home theater and HDTV was just coming out I bought magazines like Sound & Vision and Home Theater magazine.  They were full of cool products and technical toys for your home theater plus amazing photos of beautiful homes and condos.

Think about the magazines you read now…

Do you read the gossip magazines? or perhaps you read music magazines? some of you may even read porn magazines…

Are those empowering?  Are those helping you make your dreams a reality?  Do they encourage you to work your business harder or do they fill your mind with junk?

And don’t get me started on the newspaper.  What a load of crap the newspaper is.  JUNK JUNK JUNK.  What a great way to fill your brain with stories of violence, crime, and poverty.  You really don’t even need the financial times or wall street journal any more as you can find that type of research online.

Next time you’re at the store think about the kind of magazine’s your buying.

I even heard that the really rich have weird exclusive magazines.  Not just the Neiman Marcus catalog but we’re talking about magazines on “ranches” and “estates” and things like that.

What you dream about and think about is what you focus on.  Are you dreaming about and focusing on the right things?

What are some of the magazines you’re reading?  Do you have any good suggestions for the list? Do you agree that magazines can help jumpstart your MLM business and motivate you?
